We’ve been on this online journey since 2002 when I created a Geocities website called “LaQuisha, Increasing Your Leisure Time” to escape the corporate horror of a software company circling the drain after the dot-com bubble burst.
Here we are, 22 years later, and I’ve come full circle, returning to the writing that kicked the whole thing off in the first instance. Along the way, I launched myself into space, living on the orbital platform #SpaceStation1 with my trusty (and now sadly deceased) cat #CuddleUnit5. I did some drag, I read some books in public libraries, I got some modeling gigs, and generally, we’ve all had a lot of irreverent fun, out here, beyond the rainbow.
One thing that has been constant, though, is my penchant for sharing my emotional life online. For better or for worse, it has become somewhat of a safety valve for me. When things get hard or sad, there’s always the internet to pour my heart into. So, if you’ve watched the video, you’ll know that I’m just so excited about my book deal that it’s tripped me over into a bit of anxiety.
I’m not one to sit on my hands, so, as the writer I’ve never felt more legitimate in calling myself, I’m returning to the venerable art of blogging. In the spirit of my adventures on #SpaceStation1, you, my dear reader, will be referred to, lovingly, as my space cadet.
And the title of this post? Well, it’s my new thing, giving myself free therapy by making TikTok posts.
